The Elite Female Pathway Guide outlines the exclusive development opportunities available to Alberta’s top female hockey players registered with a Hockey Alberta member organization. This pathway provides athletes access to elite competition, high-performance coaching, skill development, identification opportunities, and advancement through Alberta’s provincial development system.
At the pinnacle of provincial representation within this pathway is selection to Team Alberta, where athletes earn the opportunity to represent the province at national events such as the National Women’s Under-18 Championship and the Canada Winter Games—the highest level of provincial competition available to developing female hockey players in Canada.
As part of this pathway, the Alberta Challenge—Hockey Alberta’s premier grassroots female development event and a key step in the Team Alberta identification process—held regional tryouts last weekend. We are proud to share that 12 EFHA athletes were selected to compete with U15AA Edmonton Ice White and U15AA Edmonton Ice Blue, representing a significant portion of the 17 Edmonton-area athletes selected overall for the program.
In addition, U13AA Edmonton Ice proudly represented Zone 6 (Edmonton) at the Alberta Winter Games this past February, competing as Edmonton’s designated representative after earning the right to represent the zone through the Alberta Winter Games qualification process. The Alberta Winter Games serve as another key developmental event within Hockey Alberta’s elite pathway and provide valuable high-performance competition for emerging athletes.
These achievements highlight EFHA’s continued impact within Alberta’s elite female hockey pathway and reinforce the strength of development taking place within our program.
